Voxengo simply rocks. I worked on a very low budget project that still required high quality audio, and the result was simply impressive. Tube Amp and MSED leave you with better-than-average sounding mixes (and I've heard alot of "professional" works), yet they have the best price you will ever find around: Free. If I ever do a lucrative audio work, I think I will invest in all Voxengo's VSTs
MSED just works as it must, and the new "inline" mode is very convenient. Powerful plug-in for mastering, and you can always use it on a track to get some special sound. You saw it in powerful mastering processors, now you can have it on your PC, and even for free!
You can read about the Mid-Side decoding in Bob Katz's "Guide to TC Finalizer" or "Secret mastering" (he also shows some tricks), one can find them free in PDF in the internet.
I've been looking for the correct, yet warm "jazz mono" mid/side split proc for as far as i can remember, and when i tried the MSED (even in Inline mode, let alone its encoder/decorder split features) it blew me away, there's something in its re-summing algorithm that makes it sound much "warmer" than any other M/S sum processor... so, for that late-50s "general usage" or for the late 70s centered "high pass" when i'm balancing the mix, or going through some 10 year old colledge tapes, or touching up some rare press needledrops, ... or even for the occasional VHS transfer's NICAM recovery - MSED is the nicest M/S processor i found so far, and it's free!!! Thanks Alex!
