Voxengo Elephant 1.3 released - Press Release

September 7, 2003: Yet another Elephant update is here.  It fixes the gain reduction counter bug and features a new "Clip" limiting mode.  This new mode works as a *clean* hard saturation limiter.  I.e. it sounds cleaner than the ordinary clipping you can get overdriving the signal in a sound editor.  The "Clip" mode is not a suggested type of limiting since it can create much distortion and many harmonics.  At the same time, this mode allows to preserve the frequency balance for the most part, and also tends not to smooth out the attacks.  This mode can be especially useful for heavy music.

By the way, this "Clip" mode is very close to the current music industry sound standards.  Nowadays recordings have to be loud like crazy.  Today even the appearance of accompanying distortion is not considered.  So, if you want to go with the mainstream, you should try Elephant's new "Clip" mode.  Meanwhile, you can also check all other Elephant's features you may find interesting:
